Who made this
I’m Ronald Baird, and I live in Idaho. I built this site on my own, with my own money, because I wanted to know whether Idaho is as red as everyone says, or whether it just looks that way.
The idea comes from Rory Sutherland’s book Alchemy: sometimes a good question moves people more than a good argument. So instead of telling you who to vote for, we publish a hypothesis, a method and the sources, and let Nov 3 give the answer.
Rules I set for myself
- No donations. I pay for everything, and total spending stays far under $100.
- No coordination with any campaign or party. I’m not a member, volunteer, donor or staffer for any of them this cycle.
- No paid ads.
- Every fact has a source. Every candidate gets one fair quote, the kind they’d choose themselves.
- Open-source code (MIT license) and open data (CC BY 4.0), so any state can copy it.
How it was built
I built this site with help from Claude, an AI assistant. The AI helped with research and code; I review every pick and every quote. If you find a mistake, tell me and I’ll fix it.
